Separate proteins and other biomolecules in seconds with the new Convective Interaction Media (CIM) monolithic HPLC columns! These new HPLC columns are based on a highly cross-linked, porous, monolithic methacrylate polymer that delivers ultra-fast separation of macromolecules with high resolution and binding capacity. The columns have very low back pressures, are available in several different chemistries and are compatible with any peristaltic pump or conventional LC-HPLC equipment. Target proteins can be isolated from, for example, highly complex plasma samples much faster and with higher yields than when using conventional separation media. Lifetime studies show a negligible loss of resolution often several hundred injections.

For example, you can carry out fast analyses with a CIM Qa monolithic column in the ion-exchange chromatography mode (separation is so fast that more than 100 injections are possible in the course of a working day!) and then simply replace it with a CIM Protein a monolithic column and continue working - this time in the affinity chromatography mode!
  • Scale up: working on the laboratory scale has never been so easy! Simply place several CIM columns in a single housing and the separation resolution and capacity will increase accordingly. Everything is so simple to handle and the system can be tailored to match your particular needs in just a few minutes!

  • Combinatorial liquid chromatography (CLC): the most innovative and advantageous feature of the CIM supports is the possibility of placing CIM columns with different active groups in one housing. Preparative CIM (Convective Interaction Media) HPLC columns are designed for very fast preparative separations and purification of biomolecules from complex mixtures as well as for various biotransformations. They are characterized by high-resolution separations and a high binding capacity which is practically unaffected by flow rate. They demonstrate low back-pressure, even at very high flow rates. CIM HPLC columns have well-defined, bimodal pore-size distribution providing excellent separation power. The high flow rates mean that the purification time can be significantly decreased, resulting in a pronounced reduction of the purification process costs. CIM HPLC columns are available in different chemistries and may be used in the high performance anion-exchange, cation-exchange, hydrophobic interaction and affinity chromatography modes.

Reversed Phase Columns
MS Series
This series features a monomeric near-perfectly end capped ultra-pure silica that is low in metal impurities. These columns are especially effective for the separation of chelating compounds as well as both acidic and basic compounds. Recommended for a host of applications but particularly effective for situations where a conventional C18 column was not as efficient as expected. available in C18,C8,C4,TMS PE, CN and NH2 formats.

aR-II Series
This series represents a polymeric-type bonding chemistry with a wide range of applications. Its acidic resistance is another factor that differentiates it from the MS series. These columns are available in C18,C8, and C4 chemistries.

aR-300 Series
This series is effective for the separation of proteins and peptides. available in 5Ph-aR-300, 5C18-aR-300, 5C8-aR-300, and 5C4-aR-300 chemistries.

Semi-Microbore HPLC Columns
available as 5C18-MS, 5C18-aR-II and 5C18-aR-300; 2.0 x 150mm dimensions. We can also supply the aR-II, MS, and aR-300 columns with other packing materials. Great for reducing solvent consumption!

Fast LC Columns
Fast LC columns (4.6 x 150mm) are packed with 3um totally porous spherical silica. Features shorter analysis times, faster equilibration and reduced solvent consumption. Two carbon loads (12.5%, 20%) to choose from. Not as fast as CIM disks but a good alternative.

Preparative HPLC Columns
available in 10, 20, 28 and 50mm ID with a very wide range of particle sizes. Contact us with column dimensions and particle sizes to fit your requirements. Bulk gel is also available.

Guard HPLC Columns
Highly recommended as a complement to any Cosmosil analytical or prep column. Lots of choice regarding column size and packing materials. Call us!

Specialty HPLC Columns
Cosmosil PYE (pyrene) and NPE (nitro-phenylethyl) bonded phases achieve quite unusual separations due to several modes of interaction including hydrophobic, change transfer and dipole - dipole. These columns are recommended for the separation of aromatic isomers like PaH's and mono-substituted benzene compounds.

Preparative Separation of Fullerenes
The Cosmosil Buckyprep and the PBB (penta bromobenzyl) columns have been especially designed for the preparative separation of fullerenes. The Buckyprep material retains fullerenes very strongly and exceeds the capacity of a standard C18 packing material by a factor of 35! Thus, prep separation can be routinely obtained with a 4.6mm I.D. column!

Normal Phase Chromatography
Ultra-pure silica (99.99%) is used for the Cosmosil SL-II series. available in analytical, prep and bulk.

Bulk Packing Materials for Liquid Chromatography
Open column chromatography is an excellent and easy technique for large scale preparation and purification at low cost. Reversed phase C18 packing materials have been used but are restricted to about 30-50% water in the mobile phase. However, the C18-OPN material can be used in 100% aqueous eluents. available in 75 and 140 um particle sizes in 0.5 and 1kg lots.

Conventional bulk C18 packing material is also available. Known as C18-PREP, it can be purchased in 40, 75 and 140 um particle sizes with a carbon load of 19%.

Bulk silica gel is also available in several particle and mesh sizes. Please inquire with your needs.
